STEP, a Terminal Operating System

Electronic Data Interchange

This module exchanges EDI-messages over secure communication channels with your business partners in EDIFACT or any other standard. It converts from internal to agreed formats and vice versa without human intervention. Transmission distortion or format errors alert managers with e-mail or SMS-messages. Common EDI messages like COPARN, CODECO, BAPLIE, COARRI, MOVINS, COPRAR, COPINO, COSTCO are implemented together with many formats like Edifact, X.12, XML, Flat file, CSV.

Web interface

Internet gateway for the terminal where lines, agencies and other business partners get direct access to the progress of the terminal operations. This module delivers information per transport-means but restricts data access with passwords. Booking and release orders can be entered and updated besides the retrieval of daily move reports, stock reports, and the like. Webcams can be installed to give views of the current situation at the gates.

Yard management

Yard shows you a real-time picture of the yard with zooming, many filter and coloring options. Advanced Yard planning includes automatic slot allocation based on the characteristics of the cargo. An automatic housekeeping routine is available. It also provides graphical train planning functions and easy facilities to define railcars and trains. Without interrupting the operations yard layout updates can be applied.

RF terminals

Data terminals linked with the main computer system over radio frequencies are an absolute prerequisite for controlling the operations in real-time. This module warrants direct data access for drivers and checkers anywhere in the terminal. It is a must for advanced modules like Equipment control and Management information

Vessel planning

The ship planning module integrates seamlessly with Yard and has a drag and drop facility between yard and vessel. It is fully BAPLIE compatible: it reads and removes the inbound cargo and adds the loading. To prepare the loading, pre-stow can be entered, cranes are allocated and planned in time, resulting in discharge & loading sequences per crane. Ample reporting is foreseen and vessel layouts are created and maintained easily

The terminal invoicing module with following main features : - Automatic transfer of moves in STEP - Separate database guarantees no loss of data - Contract data ensures the application of the right tariffs - Draft invoices for final approval and final invoice creation - Manual invoice update feature - Automatic link with the accounting system

Repair shop

Repair activities on the terminal can be traced and managed by this module. It provides a handheld registration of the container inspection including the estimated repair time and materials. It sends a Cedex ready estimate to the line per E-mail for approval. Fully or partly approved estimates can be entered to print the corresponding repair shop worksheets. Tariff administration per line and automatic invoicing of repairs are available.

Trailers & Vehicles

Seamless operational integration between trailers, vehicles and containers is a key feature of STEP. Whether you are at the gate, loading a vessel or simply running a report.

Equipment control

If you want to get the most out of the equipment and still be in control, this is your module. It calculates in real-time the best next instruction for your equipment regardless they working for vessel, truck, train or doing housekeeping. You define the performance characteristics and teach the system how to react. It has top down access to the performance of every piece of equipment. Expected Q1/2014.

We understand Customs Authorities can play a big role in your day-to-day operations. STEP can be customized to support various customs regulations, all depending on your local situation. On top of that webservices can be provided to integrate with external systems, to enable full automatic customs handling with real-time data.

Automatic gate

Automatic Gate for trucks with several camera's for damage registration and Recognition(OCR) of the truck plate number, container number and the container ISO code. Highlights: - Drive through recognition with or without lane-barriers - Capacity up to 200 trucks per hour/per lane - Recording of images for detailed inspection - License Plate recognition - Container Number recognition - ISO code recognition - Automatic barrier control for empty trucks

Secure access

A visual security module to check the truck-driver's or other people's ID's before access to the terminal is granted. The module issues ID cards and keeps a copy of the licenses together with a recent picture of the trusted drivers. IMO/ADR certificates can be controlled and easy tracing of the accesses is provided.
